Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest Pro Comparison
With Apple's recent tech announcement, it seems like the time has come to compare Apple Vision Pro with Meta Quest Pro.
Apple's first VR headset has officially been announced. Apple Vision Pro boasts an incredibly high-resolution display along with a sleek "ski goggle" design.
Given that there are already other top-quality VR headsets on the market, our experts are eager to see how it stacks up against Meta's Quest Pro.
1. Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest Pro: Specs and Performance
The new Apple Vision Pro runs on the M2 and the newly announced R1 chipset. This lets you watch 3D movies, play games, and experience apps in your surrounding environment. Each panel in Vision Pro also packs 23 million pixels — more than most 4K TVs — delivering remarkably sharp resolution and fine detail.
Apple Vision Pro can be controlled with your voice, eyes, and subtle hand movements. Meta Quest Pro, by contrast, requires a controller. That controller is compact and fits naturally in the hand, but it can't quite match Apple's hands-off approach.
Meta Quest Pro runs on its own chipset built around the Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 1. With 12GB of RAM, it can handle just about anything with ease, free of annoying lag or hiccups.
2. Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest Pro: Design

Both devices are designed with a strong focus on style and technology. Quest Pro features a sleek, ultra-modern look with a solid black color and rounded edges. It's comfortable to wear, but at 722g, the weight can be a drawback — you may feel it on your head after a while.
Apple Vision Pro adopts a futuristic design reminiscent of ski goggles. The headset itself is slim, with a comfortable plush band attached at the back. It comes in silver, and a compact battery pack at the bottom provides about 2 hours of use.
3. Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest Pro: Price
Now let's look at pricing. Apple has decided to launch Vision Pro at $3,499 — far above the roughly $999 price of Meta Quest Pro.
Another thing to factor in is the added cost of accessories. At this point, it's not yet clear how much the Quest 3's controllers will cost. That said, they're expected to be bundled in despite the $499 price tag.
It also appears you'll be able to upgrade to the Quest Pro Touch Pro controllers. If you want to use them with Quest 3, that will cost you $149 (£149 each).
4. Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest Pro: Features

The clearest difference in features comes down to tracking. Quest Pro offers both eye tracking and face tracking, features Quest 3 lacks. Notably, Quest Pro is equipped with 10 mixed and virtual reality sensors supporting up to 6 degrees of freedom.
5. Apple Vision Pro vs. Meta Quest Pro: Performance
It's not entirely clear yet how Meta Quest 3 will perform in the real world, and we likely won't know for sure until demos and reviews of the headset are released.
However, Meta has already announced that Quest 3 will be "the most powerful headset yet." That means Quest Pro, despite costing twice as much, may not offer the best performance available.
This gap seems to come down to the Snapdragon chipsets powering the two devices. Quest Pro currently runs on the Snapdragon XR2, while Quest 3 is expected to ship with a next-generation Snapdragon chip (possibly the XR2 Gen 2).
And Quest 3 isn't the only one getting a performance boost! Quest 2 and Quest Pro users will be glad to hear that a software upgrade is coming that boosts Quest Pro's CPU by 26% and its GPU by 11%.
6. Conclusion
So, which headset should you buy? That depends on your budget, preferences, and needs. If you want the best possible VR experience — more immersive, more realistic, more interactive — Quest Pro may well be worth the investment.
But if you're looking for a more accessible, affordable VR device that still delivers great performance and features, Quest 3 may be the better choice.
Until Meta officially announces the full feature set of Quest 3, it'll be hard to know its true value. Still, for now, there's no doubt the price will be the deciding factor for many fans.
